Netivat Sofrut: diary of a Soferet

Adventures of a female sofer learning to heal the world by doing Holy Work...writing a Sefer Torah

SCRIBAL EVANGELIST As the only living certified Soferet (סופרת - female Jewish ritual scribe) & the first woman to practice sofrut (creation of sacred Hebrew texts) in over 200 years, I feel an obligation to blog about my experiences of The Work. I am also currently researching the foundation of a lost tradtion of women practicing this holy craft. For more on the services I provide, please see; Sofrut Nation. I am now available to engage with students, male or female, wishing to enter into the preliminary stage of learning sofrut. You are welcome to join me on this path. "Tzedeq, tzedeq tir'dof - Justice, justice you shall pursue." Devarim/Deuteronomy 16:20.

I sorrow for the reason for this. And I celebrate your getting it (particularly having read Esther Bronner's A Weave of Women). Mazel Tov!

What Simon said. May this be the beginning of a new era for you, and may the difficulties of this experience only make you more prepared to celebrate the s'machot that will, b"H, come your way.

I thank all of you so much for your comments, both public & private. This ordeal has been the most challenging of my life & the support, love & guidance I have received from family, friends & even strangers has sustained me. I'm so grateful to you & to Ha-Shem.
I am desperately sad at this outcome, however I take some comfort in knowing that I did everything in my power to encourage our taking a different course.
I wish my ex all the best of whatever he needs.
