SCRIBAL EVANGELIST As the only living certified Soferet (סופרת - female Jewish ritual scribe) & the first woman to practice sofrut (creation of sacred Hebrew texts) in over 200 years, I feel an obligation to blog about my experiences of The Work. I am also currently researching the foundation of a lost tradtion of women practicing this holy craft. For more on the services I provide, please see Soferet.com; Sofrut Nation. I am now available to engage with students, male or female, wishing to enter into the preliminary stage of learning sofrut. You are welcome to join me on this path. ECUMENICAL BANNER

בס"ד

17 Tishrei

As the Chag ("holiday" - from the same root as the Arabic word "hajj") preparations were such a whirlwind between Yom Kippur & Sukkot (now in its intermediate days), I have not yet had a chance to publicly thank Jordan for putting together my new masthead image. He's a cracking good web designer, which you can see for yourself if you check out his site. He's also a great pseudo-sibling & fab to talk comparative religion with.
Thanks, Jordy!
:)

I noticed the new banner -- it is gorgeous!

I never knew "chag" and "hajj" were related; that's so cool.

Yeah :)
One of my fave ways to build Jewish-Muslim bridges is to look at our languages & words of prayer: many are the same. I find this is one way to lay a foundation upon which to make true friends who can share challenging conversations with later on, once the relationship is established. The mistake I think too many Muslim-Jewish groups make is to jump right into the whole Palestine thing right away, allowing no time to form attachments or even humanise each other.
